Meet Bobby Norfolk

The Going Green Groove

A Musical Exploration of Energy, Sustainability and Alternative Thinking! - Available March 2010

Emmy winning-storyteller Bobby Norfolk is burning hot as he portrays the very cool Sun King, a cosmic character who wants people to “get hip to how fragile and precious the earth really is!” He comes upon two students, Manny and Prudence played by Dave Farver and Gale Rublee Portman, who are arguing about their science project on energy. Should it focus on the “energy of the future” or “energy conservation”? The Sun King uses his magic and wisdom to engage the students with compelling songs, live music and stories as they explore the relationship humans have with energy--past, present, and future. Manny and Prudence become inspired and realize they have the POWER to go green along with the ENERGY to find solutions!

Straight from Today’s Headlines! Introduces crucial environmental topics such as climate change, energy consumption, conservation, renewable energy technology, our carbon footprint and sustainability. Emerging alternative energy technologies such as wind farms, solar power and hydrogen cars are also mentioned.

This interactive, inspirational program will provide students with practical “green” ideas for taking better care of our planet that can be immediately implemented at school or home. Teachers will be provided a reference guide with vocabulary, concepts, and resources for additional classroom discussion and community action.

Recommended for grades 2-8, this 45 minute performance, which includes audience participation, applies to the Missouri Grade Level Expectations for science and music. Download a flyer!
